A Fairytale made of spare loops
These loops were just fun a fun project that came out of me thinking about Hansel and Gretel - yes the fairytale.
Crumbs
Felt to me like the beginning of an adventure into the unknown. It started with the plodding piano I was playing one evening. Then the drums came to me after listening to Atom Willard. It seemed to gel in my mind and the rest made itself.
Upon further listening sessions I felt it didn’t match the vibe for the full single enough and something about the repeating synth pattern made me feel like I was stumbling upon a magical place.
I then added the glitch at the start to give some random texture, I enjoy bit crushers mixed with gates. Reverse it to end the song and I was happy with it.
Shoot
I found a loop of a child from America in the 1960s speaking about a game they’d play where they’d pretend to shoot each other. I was sampling this along with another clip of them saying it was 'the witch’. Suddenly the idea for the mini single came together, even though this sound is dreadfully repetitive. The idea of Hansel or Gretel pulling a gun on the Witch made me laugh.
Escape
I love two step drum beats. I love the sound of Garage and Drum and bass. I like hitting my bass. This song is about running away from danger, the witch in the story. A lot of this song came from the memories I have of sprinting through our local woods away from a man and his dog which was chasing us. This song is that feeling.

Album Art
I wanted the album art to convey both the idea of a story, and reflect the title. There’s no lyrics so this was my way of nodding the Hansel and Gretel theme to anyone who might notice.
